I was drawn to the discipline of behavioral health having experienced positive results from therapy in my personal life. As a middle-aged adult with lessening parental responsibilities I opted to pursue a path to become a Marriage and Family Therapist; I was confident the credential coupled with my life experiences would make me a good clinician.

In my internship I worked for behavioral health agencies. During the course of my internship, I learned the harsh realities of how revenue and profits supersede ethics and quality of care. I shared this disappointment with my husband, and I somewhat flippantly, suggested that we could start our own entity and provide a better service.
