A widely accepted premise in systems theory is:  the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In this workshop, practitioners will learn experiential techniques to help clients discern between the mind, body and spirit as individual entities which, when working together, create the whole self.

This workshop includes a description of current trauma research which indicates the need to access the body’s implicit memory into treatment.  Intra-personal communication skills will be discussed as an intervention for creating mutually beneficial relationships between the client’s mind, body and spirit.

  • Discern between the mind, body and soul as intrapersonal entities and discover their communication styles
  • Recognize and then work with the nonverbal indicators (the body’s voice) of a trauma response
  • Participate in sensorimotor techniques to help clients reprocess and shift trauma out of the nervous system
  • Participate in guided imagery designed to enhance communication between the mind, body, spirit

Did you know that we have minors who attend Galena, Damonte, Reno High School as well as Sparks Middle school who have been sex trafficked?  We often believe we are far removed from the horrors of sex trafficking in our community, but that is not the case.

In this workshop, you will learn how to assess for this population as the likelihood of these women and adolescents entering into your practice without you knowing it, is pretty high.  You will learn how to help educate parents on what to look for in their adolescents.

Although this workshop talks specifically about the psychological impact of sex trafficking on minors and adults, it will also talk about the impact of  trauma on the brain, the ego, and greater sense of trust for others.  We will talk about the impact of trauma bonds within interpersonal relationships as well as approaches to manage dissociation in session.
