A widely accepted premise in systems theory is: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In this workshop, practitioners will learn experiential techniques to help clients discern between the mind, body and spirit as individual entities which, when working together, create the whole self.
WHAT YOUR WILL LEARN:
This workshop includes a description of current trauma research which indicates the need to access the body’s implicit memory into treatment. Intra-personal communication skills will be discussed as an intervention for creating mutually beneficial relationships between the client’s mind, body and spirit.

Did you know that we have minors who attend Galena, Damonte, Reno High School as well as Sparks Middle school who have been sex trafficked? We often believe we are far removed from the horrors of sex trafficking in our community, but that is not the case.
In this workshop, you will learn how to assess for this population as the likelihood of these women and adolescents entering into your practice without you knowing it, is pretty high. You will learn how to help educate parents on what to look for in their adolescents.
Although this workshop talks specifically about the psychological impact of sex trafficking on minors and adults, it will also talk about the impact of trauma on the brain, the ego, and greater sense of trust for others. We will talk about the impact of trauma bonds within interpersonal relationships as well as approaches to manage dissociation in session.
As always, MHPC provides significantly reduced registrations for STUDENTS.
Seating for STUDENTS is limited, so sign up early

Integrating the Mind, Body & Spirit in the Treatment of Trauma
Join us in learning about this viral topic in 2019. This will be a discussion to attain more about this cutting-edge modality, that enhances clinical effectiveness. If you are not an Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) provider, you can refer your client to an EMDR specialist and continue working with your client. EMDR is not provided alone. It's a complementary modality to your work that can make the therapy process more powerful.
Learn why this is such a powerful tool in the healing process of trauma, and when you should or shouldn't consider EMDR. Experience in vivo EMDR session so you can truly get a feel for what happens. In this enlightening session, you will understand how trauma underlies addiction and most diagnoses. In addition, Dr Baird will explain ways of understanding trauma that is not obviously PTSD.
You will learn how clients move forward to truly heal from the inside out and how to live a fulfilling life again.
