LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This will be the third consecutive year that Rhonda will be delivering this Ethics training.  And as always,  participants can expect a thoughtful, sensitive, thought-provoking and experiential training on the ethical concerns of providing mental health treatment in a strengths-based manner beyond the “medical model” that we are all working so hard to transcend.

Relate the principles and values of "Person-Centered" and "Wellness and Recovery" movements to mental health discipline's core professional values and ethical imperatives. Utilize this synthesis to critically consider several vignettes - each presenting an ethical quandary, including dual relationships.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

In this session, our goal is to make it easier to have open and honest discussion about suicide, recognize the challenges those with thoughts of suicide face and the possibilities to increase wellness and connectedness.  A comprehensive suicide prevention framework consists of varying degrees of training and complimentary initiatives.

This training will facilitate community awareness of suicide as a serious community health problem, reduce stigma surrounding suicide, increase personal commitment to suicide prevention, encourage life-protection and wellness-promotion activities, and promote “caring communities” to support these efforts.  This session will expand the understanding of suicide prevention across the lifespan in our state of Nevada.
