The cost of today's opioid epidemic has reached $1 trillion and continues to rise.  In addition, approximately one in five U.S. adults live with some kind of mental illness.

Understanding the connections between opiates and mental health, is an important aspect in successfully treating this population.

About Dr Malinas

Board-certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist who has been in practice for 25 years.  During that time he has been the medical director of Ventura County Children's Mental Health, of West Hills Hospital and Willow Springs Center, and is currently the Medical Director of Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services and of the Rural Clinics of the State of Nevada.  He also maintains a private practice in Reno.  He teaches psychiatry residents, medical students and nurse practitioners.  He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is an officer of the Nevada Psychiatric Association for which he organizes an annual psychopharmacology update that draws over 1500 prescribers from around the country to Las Vegas each February.
